Meet Angie:

Angie Jordan is an independent midwife and lactation specialist of  over 27 years. She was excited about pursuing the profession of midwifery from her teen years, and studying at Kings College University of London helped seal the high standard of education and care that she carries forward today.

Angie has enjoyed working overseas, where in South East Asia  she worked as a volunteer, training midwives and health workers in Indonesia; and also Barbados, where she has 15 years experience as a birthing centre, water-birth/ homebirth midwife and breastfeeding specialist; launching 2 charitable organisations- Better Birthing in Bim and The Breastfeeding & Child Nutrition Foundation (The BCNF Est. 2015).

More recently  Angie relocated with her family back to the UK, where she continued her practice as an NHS homebirth Team midwife and later a Vulnerable Women's Team Midwife in Croydon, specialising in mental health.

During her time in Barbados, Angie had 2 children, both born gently and peacefully, outside of hospital. The first was a water-birth at a freestanding Birthing Centre and the second was a water-birth at home.
The joy and empowerment that came with the birth of her own two children has emboldened Angie to ensure that her clients feel confident, knowledgeable and empowered in choosing their best birth for their family.

Connect Childbirth preparation classes are essential for couples who want to be well informed and prepared for birth, and are for those who recognize the importance of  having childbirth choices .

From these classes, you can then go on to decide what you want for your birthing experience, and formulate ‘Birth Preferences’ (often called a Birth Plan) to share with birth supporters.

Antenatal  and  Postnatal Check-ups

(With specialist Mental Health support if required) :

These days, women and their partners are actively seeking independent midwives for their maternity care, often while still being booked in at their local hospital for NHS care.

The average length of your antenatal or postnatal visit with Connect Midwifery Care is approximately 60-90 mins, and these are provided in the comfort of your own home.

Angie also has extensive experience in specialist Mental Health Support, and can offer this to each client as and when needed.

Connect Midwifery Care means  true CONNECTION with mothers/ families and a more holistic and woman/family centred approach to care.
 Breastfeeding  Specialist Support:

Some babies latch onto the breast straight away after birth and with no difficulty at all, while others have a challenge with latching on, staying on or draining the breast adequately.

Equally some mothers have developed  bad habits or anxiety from past breastfeeding experiences which requires fresh  support and guidance for this new baby.

Angie is a Lactation specialist (IBCLC in training) and Connect Midwifery offers specialist services to help you with your breastfeeding  problems and concerns.

Our Happy Clients

There are many reasons to use Angie for your birthing experience. As a person who underwent two awesome births in a Birthing Center, only to be then faced with a traumatic birth in the hospital, I can assure any mother that knowing your midwife and being able to talk to her beforehand is priceless.

I will always be grateful for the care before during and after the birth of my beautiful little boy.

Testimonials

My experience with midwife Angie Jordan was a fantastic one. With the birth of my second child looming, I found that the midwife that I had previously worked was no longer available. As a result, a few weeks before my due date, I was desperately seeking a professional who could provide an antenatal refresher course on how to prepare mentally and physically for labor, as well as doula services during labor.

Angie was able to do just that: visiting me in the comfort of my home with a wealth of information; sharing her knowledge and past experience; listening to my concerns and hopes for childbirth; and, on the day in question, guiding me through the process in a calm, kind, adept manner.

I credit her, my Ob/Gyn, the team at the medical facility and the support of my husband and family for allowing my daughter to be born in a completely natural, unhindered way – without the need for any kind of medical intervention – which is certainly optimal for mother and child. By the time of the postnatal checkup, I felt like I was chatting with an old friend. I would recommend Angie and her services wholeheartedly.
